Kindergarten 2 Patterns Handbook

For Ages 5–6


Introduction

Patterns are all around us.

Children see patterns in:

  • Clothes
  • Nature
  • Music
  • Shapes
  • Colors
  • Numbers
  • Daily routines

Learning patterns helps children:

  • Think logically
  • Predict what comes next
  • Develop early mathematics skills
  • Improve observation skills
  • Prepare for algebra and sequencing later

This handbook introduces simple repeating and growing patterns for Kindergarten 2 learners.

Children should use:

  • Clapping
  • Drawing

Learning should be playful and interactive.


Section 1 — What Is a Pattern?

A pattern is something that repeats in the same order.

Example:

This is an AB pattern.


Section 2 — AB Patterns

AB patterns repeat two different things.
